Steps to follow when registering for graduate courses

Congratulations! You have been accepted to one of our graduate programmes. You can get further information about the course contents and descriptions by following the links on our Graduate page. Once you receive your acceptance letter and contact the Registrar’s Office/International Office, you will be given a letter confirming that you have successfully registered to the relevant programme. Please follow the steps below carefully to complete your registration:

  1. You have to contact the English Preparatory School to enter and pass the English Proficiency Exam for Postgraduate Studies. If you have certification showing that you have passed an equivalent exam, then you do not have to take this exam but you should still contact them to confirm that you are exempted from the exam.

  1. You should contact the departmental secretaries, who will take your e-mail address and details. This is to register you onto the Student Information System – Einstein. The system will generate a password for you, which will be sent to you via e-mail. You can use this password and your e-mail as your login details to have access to your student account on http://sis.neu.edu.tr Your access to this account is not only important for selecting courses and registration but also to check your status and grades throughout the semester. You will also be given an e-mail address with the university’s affiliation: [email protected] where x’s stand for your student number.

  1. You should contact your academic advisor to talk about the compulsory courses and the timetables as well as the courses you can/cannot select. You should also sign the plagiarism contract and submit it to your advisor during this meeting. The form will be provided by the advisor. You can find a copy of the form here.

  1. After you receive your password and contact your advisor, you can login to see the list of courses offered in your programme for that specific semester. You can select the courses and add them to your request list online. These selections will then be appear on your advisors’ account, who will approve if your selections are appropriate or reject if they are not appropriate/if the quota for the course is full. Each course has a quota of 12 students and you need to select your courses as soon as possible to make sure that you can register for the ones you would like to attend.

  1. Once your courses are approved by your advisor, you will not be able to see them anywhere on the system until you get these approved by the Registrar’s Office/International Office too. Please contact the relevant department in these offices to get your courses approved. Unless you get their approval, your name will not appear on any of the class lists and you will not be able to see your selected courses online too. Your registration is complete!

***Returning Students:

At the end of each semester, student accounts become passive. If you are a returning student, first you should contact the Registrar’s Office/International Office to activate your student account. This can be done after you make the necessary payments for the courses. You should present the payment slips to the staff in the Registrar’s Office/International Office so that your account can be activated. Once your account is active, you can make selections from the course list and wait for your advisor to approve your selections. Once your courses are approved by your advisor, you will not be able to see them anywhere on the system until you get these approved by the Registrar’s Office/International Office too. Please contact the relevant department in these offices to get your courses approved so that you can see your selection again. Unless you get their approval, your name will not appear on any of the class lists, your lecturers will not be able to enter any grades for you on the system and you will not be able to see your selected courses online too. Your registration is complete!
